Why does a Harmonie candle burn so long?

Harmonie candles combine slow-burning coconut wax with a 100% cotton braided wick. After approximately the first 15 minutes, the candle develops a melt pool that is mostly fragrance oil with a small amount of wax. In effect, the fragrance oil is doing much of the burning, a little like an oil lamp with a long-lasting scent experience, while the coconut wax helps maintain the pool. That is why Harmonie 8 oz candles average about 80 hours and 11 oz candles average 100+ hours.

Harmonie does not add petroleum oil to make the wax burn more aggressively. The coconut-wax and braided-wick system is designed for a clean burn without black smoke while burning or when extinguished, when used as directed. When you extinguish the candle, you may see a brief puff of white smoke. For the best experience, allow the first burn to establish an even melt pool, trim the wick before relighting, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
